About Ready, Set, Goal!

Ready, Set, Goal! is a 6 month leadership development program that matches Kids aged 9-12 from diverse, underserved communities in the GTA with KidCoaches who help them plan and implement a community goal project (Goal of Contribution). Through weekly 30-minute phone calls using a guided activity book, KidCoaches support Kids in building confidence, practicing Possibility Thinking and fostering greater community awareness and social responsibility.

KidCoaches and Kids are grouped into teams that we refer to as Crews. Crews are composed of up to 10 Kids and 10 KidCoaches, and are led by a volunteer Crew Captain, who is also a former KidCoach. Your Crew Captain works with your Crew to cultivate and maintain a sense of community and is your main point of contact for support and feedback throughout your volunteer experience. They provide scheduled and on-going communication with KidCoaches by providing coaching support for your weekly check-ins and other experiences in the program. Crew Captains also deliver aspects of the Ready, Set, Goal! program and share updates relating to the program with KidCoaches.
Activity Days are virtual meet-ups with your Kid and Crew. These meet-ups are a great way to connect and engage with others through fun and interactive activities. Pop!Fest is a graduation celebration that showcases the accomplishments of Kids and KidCoaches throughout the program. Participation in Activity Days and Pop!Fest is mandatory. Possibility Thinking is the idea that anything is possible. At FPK, we believe it is the driving force of creativity. Possibility Thinking is more than thinking outside the box; it is the ability to see possibilities where others see obstacles. The Ready, Set, Goal! Program promotes and inspires Possibility Thinking by engaging Kids with curiosity, mindfulness and acknowledgements. Our Programs provide creative opportunities where new, fun, and even wild ideas are encouraged!
