Get Fitter, Don't Litter - Keep it Clean To Keep it Green!

Alina’s Goal of Contribution was Plogging – a combination of jogging while picking up garbage in a park. As a workout, it provides variation in body movements by adding bending, squatting and stretching to the main action of running.

Alina wanted to do an environmental clean-up day. Rather than simply collecting garbage, she made the occasion unique and fun! She learned that in Sweden, jogging while picking up litter is a workout activity called “plogging”. She picked a date, planned a route and created flyers for people in her community to all get involved. When it was time to do her goal, many people participated in plogging and her local park became noticeably cleaner.

“This is important to me because I care about animals and having fun times in a park but when its dirty the animals have a very dirty environment and the people in parks also have a dirty environment. Also in my past, I have seen many videos about how the parks are very dirty and how lots of people don’t care when it has been caused by us humans. So I think it is important to me because I care about the environment and want to make it cleaner and make a difference in the world.” – Alina
