Last Thursday, our campers gathered in a classroom at Adrienne Clarkson Public School to welcome a very special guest! We were pleased to host Richmond Hill MP, Majid Jowhari, at a fun filled day of Camp Contribution.
Throughout the visit, he engaged with our campers and asked them about the issues that they see within their own communities. He spoke with the Kids about the importance of civic engagement, and shared about his experience working in the community as a public servant:
“It was truly an incredible opportunity to visit Camp Contribution in Richmond Hill and engage with a classroom full of kids passionate about their community! Encouraging our youth to actively participate in society is a crucial step towards achieving real change and a brighter future.”
As part of their community service project, the campers explored the area around the school. They noticed that the intersections, which are monitored by crossing guards during the school year, were not safe to cross. Our Kids wanted to raise awareness about road safety and, as a result of their community exploration, created a play called Look Both Ways which they delivered to children and staff from nearby camps.
We would like to extend our utmost gratitude to Majid Jowhari, and his team, for visiting our Camp. We would also like to thank our Camp Leaders for all of their hard work, as well as our dedicated community supporters! This summer, over 350 Kids will take part in Camp Contribution.
