Winner of 2007 Organization of Character Award
We are very proud to have won the highly respected "2007 Organization of Character Award" presented by the Character Foundation of York Region. This award is conferred annually to one organization in recognition of its outstanding character and contribution in making a positive difference in the lives of others, a recognition which truly acknowledges our mission.
Future Possibilities for Kids is a one-of-a-kind organization that is frequently credited with enhancing the lives of people who pass through it. How many organizations can make claim to that result?
Our 800% growth in population over the past six years and 70% retention rate of volunteers is a testament to the inspirational, gratifying and edifying work we do together, both within and beyond our communities. Our Kids and KidCoaches often playfully compete with accounts of "Who got more out of being in Future Possibilities"!
Survey Results:
Our annual surveys since 2003 have demonstrated that our programs produce personal, social, academic, and community transformations:
One hundred percent of children stated that:
- They learned leadership and life skills during their involvement in the Future Possibilities program that they did not learn elsewhere.
- They feel better about themselves as a result of being in the program and would recommend the program to other children.
- They are using the skills acquired in the Ready, Set, Goal! program in their life after the program ended.
71% of children stated that their grades in school improved while being in the program even though the Ready, Set, Goal! program is not an academic program. No children reported that their marks went down.
100% of the parents and teachers responded "yes" when the children asked if they thought the child benefited from being in the program.
